FAQs

When I tried to sell my notes to agents and resellers based on the prices on this website, they claim the prices are too high. Why?

Agents make money from buying and selling. The prices I listed are the prices being sold on the market, to collectors. For the agents to profit, they must buy the notes at a lower price from you. Different agents will offer you different prices because they expect different amounts of profit from the sale of your notes. Sometimes, they already have collectors looking for the notes you’re selling, in which case they can resell the notes very quickly and therefore happy to pay you more while accepting a lower profit. Sometimes, it may also depend on the agent’s personal profit model. Some transact less, and expect a higher profit from each transaction; some adopt a volume strategy, where they are willing to accept a lower profit but sell more. The commonality across all scenarios is that they will offer you lower than the market prices.

Why are the market values shown on this website different from the actual prices listed today?

Market prices fluctuate. The prices shown on this website are based on the market price in a particular year, as shown in the brackets, e.g. (2024). Prices today may be higher or lower. Such fluctuation is common, just like the price of gold, watches, or cryptocurrencies. In addition, the prices of two apparently similar notes can also differ depending on their condition, features, and the particular seller. Agents who flip notes for profit sell at a higher price than collectors giving up their collection, and sellers who bought their notes at a higher price initially will sell them for higher so as not to make a loss.

Since you know about history and banknotes, do you offer talks or courses on the history of Singapore narrated from the lens of banknotes?

No. However, if you are a teacher in school, and you wish to borrow these notes to conduct history lessons, please contact me to discuss. As long as it is for educational and not commercial purposes, I will try to oblige.

Can I buy the banknotes shown on this website?

Only the ones in the “Shop” page are available for sale. The ones on the other pages are from my personal collection. (I indicated the market prices on those pictures for those who need broad references on the buy or sell prices of the note). I won’t sell these pictures unless there is a really good offer, because once sold, there will be a gap in my collection. However, if you really, really want a particular note for special reasons, please email me with an offer and I will reply to you.

I am not based in Singapore. How can I buy your notes?

Please contact me on email to discuss the delivery mode. I will ask for your address and find a secure way of getting the note to you.

I bought a note from your website. Can I ask for a refund or an exchange?

I apologise that no refunds or exchange will be provided. The notes sold here are shown in the pictures and their condition is explained in the description. I run this website as a hobby, and I am unable to find time to respond to such requests.

Can I use PayNow to pay for the notes?

Yes, please contact me on email and I will provide my PayNow details.

Can I inspect the notes beforehand?

Yes, please contact me on email to arrange.
