Withdrawn Portrait notes refer to the paper versions of the $2, $5, and $10 signed by Hu Tsu Tau and Lee Hsien Loong. They are no longer being issued since the 2000s, and have been replaced by Polymer versions. They are still legal tender and remain in active circulation, but the government is not printing them anymore. Withdrawn Portrait notes also include the $10000 note, which was discontinued in 2014 to mitigate the risks of money laundering, and the $1000 note, discontinued in 2021 for the same reasons. Today, banks are still allowed to re-circulate the $1000 note, but the $10000 note is being actively withdrawn from circulation, and banks are obliged to return every piece they receive to MAS.
